Relax to the sound of a gentle breeze whispering
through the Spanish moss, as the sunlight
filters through the tall Pine and Cypress
trees and water laps at the bank of the Big
Cypress Bayou. On what is said to be the site
of old Port Caddo, where paddlewheel steamboats
landed, Caddo Indians hunted and fished, and
river boatmen plied their trade; this is where
you will find Camp Caddo. This authentic old
Fish Camp, as the old-timers called 'um, and
was built in 1948. The inside walls and ceiling
of this beautiful lodge are nine foot high
center match Cypress paneling. The fireplace
is quarried limestone with seashell fossils
exposed. The windowed porch overlooks the
river, and if you let your imagination run
free for a spell, you can see the ghost of
a steamboat passing your way. Or perhaps you
might see a pontoon boat, draped in bathing
beauties. In any case, your stay at Camp Caddo
will be one to enjoy and remember forever.
